Founded in 1870 in Vilafranca del Penedes by Jaime Torres Vendrell. The Pacs del Penedes campus is the visitor headquarters. Mas La Plana, the 29-hectare Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard at Finca El Maset planted in the early 1970s, produced the 1970 vintage that famously beat Chateau Latour 1970 at the 1979 Gault-Millau Wine Olympiad. Listed in the 2022 World's Best Vineyards ranking. The family operates roughly 2,300 hectares across Penedes, Conca de Barbera, Priorat, Costers del Segre and beyond.

The first single-variety Cabernet Sauvignon labelled and bottled in Spain. President Ronald Reagan served the 1975 vintage at his 1981 inauguration dinner.
