In the glass
Aroma: honey, dried apricot, candied citrus, almonds, floral
Palate: intense sweetness, apricot preserve, honey, lively acidity
Miele (honey) is Monte Tondo's Recioto di Soave DOCG, a rare sweet wine from appassimento-dried Garganega grapes. Recioto di Soave predates Soave's dry style and is considered the original historic wine of the Soave hills. Monte Tondo's version captures honey, dried apricot and candied citrus balanced by the grape's naturally high acidity.
What it pairs with
-
Cantucci toscani (almond biscuits)
Classic Italian vino da dessert and cantucci; the wine's almond-honey echoes the biscuit. -
Torta di mele (apple cake)
Honey and apple character in both the wine and the traditional Veneto cake create a seamless match. -
Fresh Grana Padano with honey
Sweet wine and young Grana Padano with a drizzle of acacia honey is a Veneto specialty pairing.
History
Recioto di Soave is the ancient sweet wine of the Soave hills, predating the modern dry style by centuries. The DOCG was established in 1998 to protect and recognise this traditional wine. Monte Tondo's Miele Recioto from dried Garganega grapes represents the Magnabosco family's commitment to the historic wines of their zone.
- 1998 — Recioto di Soave elevated to DOCG.
- 2000 — Monte Tondo releases first Miele as a dedicated Recioto di Soave DOCG.
