Pra's Monte Grande from the basalt-rich Monteforte hillside is a benchmark organic Soave Classico: Graziano Pra's organic viticulture and extended lees contact produce a pure, mineral, textural wine of genuine complexity and age-worthiness for the price.

What it pairs with

  • Seppie in nero con polenta (black cuttlefish with polenta)
The wine's saline mineral depth is the classic pairing for cuttlefish ink braise and polenta.
  • Risotto con asparagi (asparagus risotto)
The wine's almond-herbal character and high acidity complement the subtle bitterness of green asparagus risotto.

History

Graziano Pra founded his estate in 1983 and was among the first Soave producers to convert to organic viticulture, seeking to maximise the volcanic basalt terroir's mineral expression without chemical interference. The Monte Grande vineyard on the Monteforte hillside is the estate's flagship plot.

  1. 1983 — Pra estate founded; first Monte Grande Soave Classico bottling
  2. 2002 — Pra estate converts to certified organic viticulture
