Ruby, medium depth
Still Red · DOC Dão · Dão
A two-grape cuvée made only when Touriga Nacional and Jaen taste most like Dão in a given year: floral, light-fruited, with the oak kept deliberately tenuous.
No critic score is published for this bottle that we can cite with a reviewer, a vintage and a review year, so none is shown. The rating in the header is our own.
Aroma: violet, light red fruit, tenuous oak
Palate: forward freshness, silky weight, youthful bite
A two-grape cuvée made only when Touriga Nacional and Jaen taste most like Dão in a given year: floral, light-fruited, with the oak kept deliberately tenuous.
Ruby coloured and perfectly clear, with a fresh aroma where the floral side of Touriga Nacional and light red fruit stand out and the wood stays tenuous and elegant. Freshness arrives before anything else on the palate, with the astringency typical of youth behind it.
Half Touriga Nacional and half Jaen. The estate makes it in years when those two varieties, tasted before blending, come closest to its idea of a Dão red.
It drinks well on release and the estate expects ten to fifteen years of gain in bottle. Serve at 17C.
