Aroma: violet, berry fruit

Palate: medium weight, youthful astringency, fruit-forward

Unoaked varietal Touriga Nacional from the Correio vineyard, first made in 2023: floral and berry scented with the astringency of youth.

What it pairs with

  • Barbecued lamb skewers
An unwooded Touriga keeps its floral lift against charcoal smoke.
  • Sausage and bean stew
Fresh acidity and moderate tannin stop a heavy stew becoming heavier.
  • Semi-cured cheese
Young tannin needs some fat, and a semi-cured cheese supplies it without overwhelming the fruit.

History

Made for the inaugural time in 2023, when the quality and quantity of Touriga Nacional from the estate's Correio vineyard persuaded the winemaking team to bottle it on its own rather than blend it.
