In the glass

Full-bodiedHigh acidityDryLong finish

Aroma: orchard fruit, resin, elegant florals

Palate: first impression of freshness, deep structure, very long persistence

Half-barrel, half-tank Encruzado: elegant fruit with a touch of resin, freshness first and then the structure and length that made this bottling a Dão benchmark.

What it pairs with

  • Bacalhau com natas
The creamy salt cod gratin needs the acidity and gets weight back from the barrel half.
  • Grilled octopus
The producer names strong fish dishes; charred octopus meets the wine's resinous edge.
  • Prawn curry
The estate lists spicy food for this wine, and 14 percent alcohol with high acid handles chilli.
