What it pairs with

  • Boeuf braisé aux carottes
Earthy, structured Morgon is a classic partner for slow-braised beef and root vegetables.
  • Lapin chasseur aux champignons
Iron-mineral Gamay finds an echo in the earthy tomato-and-mushroom rabbit stew.
  • Saint-nectaire affiné
Volcanic cheese from Auvergne mirrors the wine's volcanic Morgon character.

History

The Jean Descombes Morgon has been a flagship of the Duboeuf négociant portfolio since the 1960s, when Georges Duboeuf forged a long-term agreement with the Descombes family to select fruit from their Côte du Py parcels. The wine helped establish Morgon's international reputation.

  1. 1969 — Georges Duboeuf first selects and bottles Morgon Jean Descombes from the Côte du Py
  2. 1985 — Jean Descombes Morgon gains export recognition in the United States and United Kingdom
