Duboeuf's Fleurie La Madone is sourced from the eponymous chapel-topped hillside: floral, silky and fruit-forward, the négociant's most recognisable expression of the appellation's perfumed character.

What it pairs with

  • Poulet de Bresse aux morilles
Silky, perfumed Fleurie is a natural partner for the region's premium Bresse chicken.
  • Filet de veau en sauce crème
Elegant, floral Gamay complements the delicate veal cream sauce.
  • Mozzarella de bufflonne et tomates
Light tannin and floral freshness mirror the Italian classic.

History

La Madone refers to the statue of the Virgin Mary visible on the summit of the Fleurie hillside. Georges Duboeuf began selecting fruit from the La Madone lieu-dit in the 1960s, making this one of his longest-running single-appellation cuvées.

  1. 1965 — Duboeuf first selects La Madone fruit for a Fleurie single-vineyard bottling
  2. 1980 — La Madone establishes broad international distribution as a single-vineyard Fleurie label
