What it pairs with

  • Pot-au-feu (braised beef and vegetables)
The wine's earthy mineral character complements the long-cooked beef and marrow.
  • Roast duck breast with cherry sauce
Classic duck and Gamay pairing; cherry fruit mirrors the sauce.
  • Terrine de campagne
Rustic country terrine is the natural bistro partner for Morgon.

History

Jean-Paul Thevenet, a founding Gang of Four member, has produced old-vine Morgon since the mid-1980s under Jules Chauvet's influence. The domaine remains family-run with the same minimal-intervention principles.

  1. 1986 — First old-vine Morgon under Thevenet label
  2. 1991 — Transition to fully organic and minimal-sulfur production
