Palate: ripe red fruit, smoke

Poulsard is the palest and softest of the Jura reds, and this stays light bodied and low in tannin, though the estate calls it deeply coloured for the grape. One 1.65 hectare parcel of south facing Trias clay at Les Bruyeres, vines from 1936 to 1960, bottled with no added sulphur. Powerful ripe and smoky fruit, broad and unctuous.

What it pairs with

  • Smoked charcuterie
The estate opens its list with smoked cured meats, which chime with the wine's smoky nose.
  • Red meat
Tissot names red meat for this parcel, which carries more matter than a typical Poulsard.
  • Grilled fish
The estate lists fish; the grape's low tannin makes that an easy match.
