I Capitelli is Anselmi's late-harvest sweet Garganega, made from overripe and botrytised bunches from the Capitel Croce and Capitel Foscarino hills; rich, honeyed and apricot-dominated but lifted by the grape's natural acidity that keeps it from cloying.
What it pairs with
-
Torta di mandorle (almond tart)
The wine's almond-honey character echoes the marzipan richness of an Italian almond tart. -
Grana Padano aged 24 months
The sweet-salt contrast between wine and crystalline aged cheese is a classic Veneto tradition. -
Fresh nectarine or white peach
Simple fresh stone fruit amplifies the apricot register in this sweet Garganega without competing.
History
I Capitelli was Anselmi's answer to the ancient Recioto di Soave tradition of sweet Garganega wine; made from late-harvested, botrytised grapes from the Capitel hills, it represents the sweet side of Garganega's complexity. The wine's name (the capitals) refers to the multiple Capitel vineyard plots it draws from.
