What it pairs with

  • Halászlé fisherman's soup
The wine's crisp acidity refreshes the palate between each spoonful of the spicy paprika-red broth.
  • Paprika chicken with spaetzle
High-acid Furmint cuts through the cream-enriched paprika sauce.
  • Young sheep's cheese
Mineral-driven dry Furmint and fresh sheep's milk cheese are a harmonious match.

History

The Várhelyi family maintains a traditional cellar in the Bem Street wine quarter of Tokaj town with multigenerational roots in the region's domestic wine production. The cellars are cut into the volcanic tuff beneath the town, providing natural temperature and humidity control for fermentation and ageing.
