What it pairs with

  • Foie gras terrine with hazelnut
The Szamorodni száraz's nutty oxidative character complements hazelnut-accented foie gras.
  • Aged Manchego with almonds
Nutty aged hard cheese and the wine's walnut-oxidative notes are a natural match.
  • Mushroom and walnut salad
Earthy, oxidative dry Szamorodni complements mushroom and walnut preparations.

History

Száraz Szamorodni is Tokaj's rarest and most underappreciated style, dry and oxidative from whole-cluster mixed-harvest fermentation. Disznókő produces it in tiny quantities, offering a Tokaj dry wine with a completely different character from modern mineral dry Furmint.

  1. 1998 — Disznókő Száraz Szamorodni first produced commercially
