Faint radiant gold, with mandarin peel and grapefruit against white flowers and intense but elegant minerality, then vibrant freshness turning unctuous.
Valdepiñeiro comes from the upper section of the vineyard of the same name, at the limit of cultivation, where the most primitive soils of large stones and heavy mineral content push Godello yields down. The estate made it in barrel to offer a different reading of what time does to a white.
A faint, radiant gold. The nose is vibrant and delicate at once, with citrus notes of mandarin peel and fresh grapefruit against white flowers, and minerality present from the start. The palate opens with vibrant freshness then turns enveloping and unctuous, with the citrus amplifying towards the finish.
From the Valdepiñeiro vineyard at Valtuille de Arriba, on clay containing aluminium, iron, slate and quartz stones. The upper part of the plot sits at the limit of cultivation.
It is made in barrel rather than tank, which the estate chose to give the wine a different relationship with time.
Turbot with beurre blanc, salt cod with peppers, or roast pork with apple.
