History

Casar de Burbia planted Godello to make a white with ageing potential and, after four years learning to work with lees, released its first bottling in 2012. In the Bierzo the variety is also known as ojo de gallo or prieto picudo blanco, a name that survives from a mistaken belief it was a mutation of the red prieto picudo.
