Il Vegro is Brigaldara's prestige single-vineyard Amarone from the Il Vegro parcel; higher Oseleta concentration and extended ageing in a mix of small and large casks produce a richer, spicier expression than the estate Classico, with excellent concentration and structure.

What it pairs with

  • Roasted venison leg with chocolate sauce
The wine's dark chocolate notes and Oseleta pepper meet the game and cocoa richness of this preparation.
  • Aged Pecorino Romano
Sharp sheep's milk cheese brings salt and fat contrast to the wine's concentrated dark fruit.

History

Il Vegro is Brigaldara's prestige statement from the Il Vegro parcel, featuring higher Oseleta and more complex oak ageing than the estate Classico. The name references the old Veronese dialect term for the elderberry, a wild plant common in the Valpolicella hillsides.
