Palate: cherry compote, tart herbs, mineral depth, fine tannin

Occhipinti's top-tier DOCG from the Bombolieri single vineyard: equal parts Frappato and Nero d'Avola in their most complex and age-worthy expression, mineral-driven with remarkable persistence.

What it pairs with

  • Roast pigeon with herbs
The wine's mineral depth and dried-fruit notes are classical companions for roasted game birds.
  • Lamb brasato with black olives
Medium tannin and high acidity balance the richness of braised lamb with briny olives.
  • Aged Sicilian salami
Spiced orange peel and iron in the wine bridge cured-meat spice perfectly.

History

The Bombolieri is named for the vineyard parcel where Occhipinti grows her oldest Frappato and Nero d'Avola vines. It represents the premium expression of Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG from the estate, produced only in superior vintages.

  1. 2010 — First Bombolieri DOCG produced from the single-vineyard parcel
