In the glass
Aroma: sour cherry, orange peel, dried herbs, mineral
Palate: red berry, cherry, spice, firm clay-mineral finish
Planeta's DOCG expression from the Dorilli contrada in Vittoria: classic cherry-sour-herb character of the appellation with the polish and consistency Planeta's winemaking team delivers across all estates.
What it pairs with
-
Stuffed pork rolls (braciole)
The wine's Frappato acidity and Nero d'Avola warmth complement the herb-stuffed pork. -
Grilled tuna steak
Cerasuolo di Vittoria's relative lightness and acidity make it one of the few reds suited to grilled tuna. -
Sicilian arancini
Bright red-fruit acidity provides refreshing contrast to the richness of fried stuffed rice.
History
Planeta established their Vittoria estate in the Dorilli contrada in 1997, one of the first major Sicilian producers to recognise the potential of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria appellation. Their DOCG bottling helped raise the profile of the zone internationally.
