Aroma: raspberry, strawberry, rose, crunchy red fruit

Palate: light red berry, fresh tannin, mineral, floral

Planeta's Frappato from Vittoria is an accessible, fresh expression of the variety: raspberry and rose aromas, light body and high acidity make it one of Sicily's most versatile lighter reds.

What it pairs with

  • Pizza bianca with ricotta and vegetables
Light body, high acid and floral notes are ideal companions for pizza without tomato.
  • Grilled seabream
The lightest of reds, Frappato is unusual in working alongside white fish.
  • Fresh burrata with cherry tomatoes
Fresh red-berry and floral notes complement the cool creaminess of burrata.

History

Planeta added a varietal Frappato from the Dorilli estate to showcase the grape's individual character, drawing on the same Vittoria soils as their DOCG blend but in a purer, unoaked expression.

  1. 2003 — First varietal Frappato from Planeta's Dorilli Vittoria estate
