In the glass
Aroma: ripe peach, apricot jam, acacia honey, jasmine
Palate: mango, cream, gentle sweetness, long floral
Villa Sandi's Cartizze Dry is at the sweeter end of the Cartizze spectrum (17-32 g/l residual sugar). The grand cru hill's concentration of sunny exposure and south-facing slopes amplifies fruit ripeness into ripe peach and mango territory.
What it pairs with
-
Fruit-based pastries (crostata, strudel)
Sweetness of the wine matches stone-fruit pastry without excess. -
Fresh cream profiteroles
Cream and honey notes in the wine complement cream-filled pastry. -
Dried apricots and nuts (aperitivo)
Dried fruit sweetness echoes the wine's tropical notes.
History
Villa Sandi has owned Cartizze vineyards since acquiring plots on the grand cru hill in the 1970s and 1980s. The Dry style (sweeter than Extra Dry and Brut) was a traditional preference for Cartizze, associated with the richer fruit concentration the hill naturally produces.
- 1985 — Villa Sandi first releases a dedicated Cartizze label from estate vineyards on the hill.
