In the glass
Aroma: ripe apricot, tropical fruit, honey, jasmine
Palate: peach compote, lychee, creamy foam, white flower
Ruggeri's Cartizze expression from the storied 107-hectare grand cru hill. Off-dry and aromatic with richer fruit and honey than the standard Valdobbiadene range, showing the concentration that the south-facing Cartizze slopes produce.
What it pairs with
-
Pandoro and Colomba (Italian holiday pastry)
The classic Venetian festive pairing: Cartizze softness and sweetness match the enriched dough. -
Panna cotta with mango coulis
Tropical fruit in the wine echoes the mango and the cream cushions its sweetness.
History
Ruggeri acquired Cartizze plots in the early decades after the hill's official recognition. The Cartizze designation was codified within the Valdobbiadene DOC in 1969 and elevated within the DOCG. Ruggeri's expression is noted for balance and complexity.
- 1969 — Cartizze granted its own sub-denomination within the Valdobbiadene DOC.
- 1980 — Ruggeri first releases its Cartizze label.
