What it pairs with

  • Whole foie gras au torchon
The most traditional and ideal pairing for 6-puttonyos Aszú.
  • Aged Parmigiano-Reggiano 36 months
Crystalline umami and salt find a match in the wine's dried-fruit complexity.
  • Walnut torte with orange zest
Walnut and orange harmonise with the wine's tobacco-orange dried-fruit register.

History

Szepsy's Aszú 6 puttonyos was among the first privately produced single-estate Aszú wines of the post-Communist era, emerging from the historic Mád dűlők that the Szepsy family had tended for generations. Produced only in genuine botrytis years, each vintage is a rare release.

  1. 1993 — First post-1989 Szepsy Aszú released commercially
  2. 1999 — 1999 Szepsy Aszú gains international export distribution
  3. 2013 — Aszú regulations revised; Szepsy 6-puttonyos confirmed under new PDO rules
