Burdese is Planeta's prestige Cabernet Sauvignon-Franc blend, named in Sicilian dialect for Bordeaux. Grown at Ulmo in Menfi, the wine achieves the concentration of ripeness that Sicily's sun provides while preserving the variety's structural backbone through altitude and careful vinification.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled dry-aged porterhouse
Firm Bordeaux structure and graphite depth are the definitive partners for quality dry-aged beef.
  • Lamb rack with herb crust
Cedar and tobacco notes with firm tannin complement herb-crusted lamb at its finest.
  • Truffle pasta
The wine's mineral depth and concentration pair with truffle's earthy intensity.

History

Planeta produced Burdese from the outset of the winery's modern era, planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc at Ulmo with guidance from Jacques Lurton. The name is the Sicilian dialectal word for Bordeaux, emphasising the wine's intentional Bordelais identity.
