What it pairs with

  • Spicy chicken wings
Off-dry low-alcohol Vinho Verde with light spritz tames hot wing spice and refreshes between bites.
  • Thai green curry
Residual sugar and spritz balance chilli heat and coconut richness; high acidity refreshes the palate.
  • Grilled sardines
Light spritz cuts the oily char; off-dry close softens the salt.
  • Summer picnic
Low-alcohol Vinho Verde is the textbook picnic and beach pour; works with mixed cold cuts, salads and bread.

History

Casal Garcia was launched by the Guedes family of Quinta da Aveleda in 1939 as the accessible high-volume Vinho Verde brand. Distinct from the premium Aveleda line but under the same Penafiel ownership, Casal Garcia became Portugal's most exported Vinho Verde brand.

Frequently asked about Casal Garcia Vinho Branco

What does Casal Garcia Vinho Branco taste like?

Green apple, lemon, white peach and spring blossom on the nose; citrus, soft fruit, light spritz and an off-dry close on the palate. Light-bodied with high acidity and a medium refreshing finish.

Why is Casal Garcia low in alcohol?

Vinho Verde grapes are picked early at low ripeness to preserve high natural acidity, which lands the wine at around 9 to 10 percent alcohol. Casal Garcia is the most exported low-alcohol Vinho Verde in the world.

Who owns Casal Garcia?

Casal Garcia is owned by the Guedes family of Quinta da Aveleda, the same family that has worked the Penafiel estate since 1671. Casal Garcia is the volume export brand within the Aveleda umbrella.
