Altos de Losada comes from small parcels of old Mencía at Valtuille de Arriba, recovered by the estate and farmed and vinified separately. It has been certified as a Vino de Pueblo since the 2018 vintage. Élevage runs fifteen months across concrete eggs, foudres and new, second and third-year barrels.
Elegant and fragrant with a complex nose: black fruit, plum and blackberry, floral touches, the waxy notes of its ageing, sweet spiced wood, liquorice, leather and coconut water, all over a mineral base. The palate is frank and savoury with good acid structure and creamy tannin.
It has been certified as a village wine, Vino de Pueblo, within DO Bierzo since the 2018 vintage.
Fifteen months, split between concrete eggs, foudres and new, second and third-year barrels.
