Aroma: ripe black cherry, prune, cacao, Mediterranean scrub

Palate: dense fruit, elegant tannin, iron mineral, warm spice

Sanlorenzo is the most elegant of Gulfi's quartet: the highest-altitude contrada delivers a more refined palate structure with exceptional aromatic complexity.

What it pairs with

  • Roast suckling pig
Elegant structure and dark fruit make this the most food-versatile of the four contrada wines.
  • Grilled ribeye with black truffle
The wine's depth and mineral character stand up to truffle-enhanced beef.
  • Aged Parmigiano Reggiano
Rich fruit and elegant tannin bridge the crystalline sharpness of aged hard cheese.

History

Sanlorenzo, named for the Contrada San Lorenzo parcel, was added slightly later than the initial Gulfi trio. It occupies the most elevated position in the Pachino zone and often produces the longest-lived of the single-contrada bottlings.
