Aroma: black fruit compote, espresso, dark chocolate, tobacco

Palate: dense dark plum, iron, cedar, structured tannin

The Bufaleffj contrada produces Gulfi's most powerful Nero d'Avola: dense, iron-mineral, dark-fruited and structured with high tannins needing several years to integrate.

What it pairs with

  • Aged pecorino ragusano
High tannin and iron-mineral depth are classic partners for sharp aged sheep's-milk cheese.
  • Slow-roasted lamb shoulder
The density and structure of this wine requires the richness of long-roasted lamb.
  • Grilled wild boar sausage
Dark fruit compote and espresso notes enhance the gamey richness of wild boar.

History

Bufaleffj refers to a historical contrada name near Pachino. The pre-phylloxera vines in this plot produce Gulfi's most mineral and powerful Nero d'Avola, bottled separately from the estate's other single-contrada wines.
