Begali's Recioto is made from the same Ca' Bianca old-vine fruit as the Amarone, with the fermentation arrested before dryness; the result is a luscious, chocolate-cherry sweet red with firm tannic structure.

What it pairs with

  • Dark chocolate cake with cherry compote
The wine's chocolate-cherry character mirrors the dessert both in fruit and in bitter cocoa notes.
  • Gorgonzola naturale
Sweet Recioto with salty, pungent blue cheese is a celebrated Veronese pairing.

History

Begali makes Recioto in very small quantities from the best upper clusters of Ca' Bianca, maintaining the ancient tradition of sweet red wine in Valpolicella that predates the dry Amarone style.
