Campo Morar is Viviani's single-site Valpolicella Superiore, named for the parcel at Mazzano. The estate treats it as a Valpolicella made to the standard of an Amarone rather than as a stepping stone, and it is regularly held in the cellar for several years before release.
The estate describes a dark, dense, deep colour, with fine scents of cassis, blackberry and cherry and floral echoes that add finesse, then blueberry and redcurrant on a full body that shades towards tobacco and almond. The palate is long, with young but velvety tannin and marked freshness.
Between four and fifteen years from the vintage. Viviani already holds the wine back before release, so bottles reach the market with some age; give a young example an hour in a decanter.
At Mazzano, high in the Negrar valley in the Valpolicella Classica zone, from the parcel that gives the wine its name.
