Palate: rich stone fruit, creamy texture, vanilla, long finish

Tasca's Chardonnay from the high Regaleali plateau shows what Sicilian sun and altitude do to Chardonnay: richer and more tropical than Burgundy but retaining the Regaleali site's mineral backbone.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled lobster with butter
The creamy, rich Chardonnay is the classic partner for lobster in butter.
  • Risotto alla pescatora
Creamy texture and stone-fruit notes complement the delicate seafood risotto.
  • Chicken with cream sauce
Full body and vanilla notes match the richness of a cream-based chicken dish.

History

Tasca d'Almerita planted Chardonnay at Regaleali in the early 1980s, recognising that the plateau's altitude could produce a more restrained style than the coastal Sicilian heat. The wine proved that Chardonnay could thrive in Sicily's interior without losing complexity.
