What it pairs with
-
Veal escalope with lemon and capers
White pepper and citrus notes echo the capers and lemon; acidity balances the meat. -
Lobster with drawn butter
Full body and mineral depth make an excellent match for rich shellfish. -
Wild mushroom risotto
Earthy mushroom and the wine's mineral-earthy notes resonate.
History
Rudi Pichler's Achleiten Grüner Veltliner Smaragd draws on the same famous Ried as the Riesling but delivers quite different character: richer, more exotic fruit with the Veltliner pepper spine. Has become the estate's most sought-after Veltliner bottling.
- 1996 — Achleiten Grüner Veltliner Smaragd first bottled by Rudi Pichler
