What it pairs with
-
Foie gras terrine
Aszú's sweetness and racy acidity provide the ideal counterpoint to foie gras richness. -
Roquefort with fig jam
Dried fig in the wine mirrors the jam; the cheese's salt sharpens the wine's sweetness. -
Coffee crème caramel
Coffee and caramel in both wine and dessert form a complementary bridge.
History
Oremus's 6-puttonyos Aszú is the flagship sweet wine of the estate, produced in exceptional years from the Tolcsva vineyards. The 13th-century cellars at Tolcsva provide an ideal environment for the slow oxidative maturation characteristic of this style.
- 1993 — First 6-puttonyos Aszú produced under Vega Sicilia ownership
- 1999 — Oremus establishes 6-puttonyos as the estate's top sweet-wine tier
