What it pairs with
-
Gorgonzola with dried figs
The wine's ripe stone-fruit sweetness and acidity complement the salt of blue cheese and the sweetness of dried fruit. -
Hungarian chestnut puree with whipped cream
A classic Hungarian dessert whose nutty sweetness echoes the Aszú's toasty richness. -
Foie gras with brioche
Traditional pairing; the wine's sweetness and acidity balance the richness of duck liver.
History
Tarcal's sun-exposed Kopasz-hegy slopes produce Aszú grapes with notable ripeness alongside generous botrytis development in good years. The five-puttonyos designation requires a minimum 120 g/L residual sugar and at least two years of maturation.
