In the glass
Aroma: white peach, almond blossom, lemon zest, mineral chalk
Palate: stone fruit, citrus mineral, almond, clean dry finish
Ottella's standard Lugana DOC is produced from Turbiana (the local name for Verdicchio in the Lugana DOC zone) from estate vineyards at Peschiera del Garda on the southeastern shore of Lake Garda. The clay-limestone soils of the Lugana plain give Turbiana its distinctive almond mineral character.
What it pairs with
-
Risotto al Lugana e porcini
The regional pairing: Lugana's stone-fruit and almond notes echo in a mushroom risotto made with the same wine. -
Grilled Garda whitefish
Classic pairing: Lugana DOC with the lake's freshwater fish is the defining Garda food-and-wine match. -
Tempura vegetables
Crisp acidity and mineral freshness cut the batter while respecting the delicate vegetable flavours.
History
The Montresor family founded Ottella in 1980 at Peschiera del Garda, at the southern end of Lake Garda where the Lugana DOC was established in 1967. Turbiana (Trebbiano di Lugana) is the exclusive white grape of the appellation, grown on the heavy clay-limestone soils south of the lake. Ottella specialises exclusively in Lugana and has been among its most consistent quality producers.
- 1967 — Lugana DOC established for Turbiana wines from the southern Lake Garda plains.
