In the glass
Aroma: black cherry jam, chocolate, espresso, spice
Palate: concentrated dark fruit, velvety tannin, cedar, long finish
Don Antonio is Morgante's single-vineyard selection: the richest, most concentrated Nero d'Avola from the estate with barrique aging producing a wine of chocolate-dark-fruit depth and silky structure.
What it pairs with
-
Wild boar ragu with pappardelle
Dense dark fruit and firm tannin are well-matched to the richness of wild boar pasta. -
Grilled pork ribs with Sicilian herbs
Chocolate-dark-fruit profile complements heavily spiced and charred pork. -
Dark chocolate tart
The wine's chocolate-espresso notes make it a rare red that actually works with dark chocolate dessert.
History
Don Antonio was named for a family patriarch and represents Morgante's premium single-vineyard Nero d'Avola, aged in French barriques to produce a richer, more structured expression of the estate's best fruit. It became one of the first Nero d'Avola bottlings to achieve international critical recognition.
