The Liebenberg Ried Riesling Smaragd from the historic Prandtauerhof estate in Joching: apricot, lime zest and fresh herbs with a mineral, medium-bodied palate.

What it pairs with

  • Poached Wachau trout
Mineral and herb notes complement delicate freshwater trout.
  • Light goat's cheese salad
Apricot and citrus in the wine pair well with tangy fresh cheese.
  • Steamed mussels with white wine
Mineral freshness and citrus notes echo the white-wine broth.

History

The Holzapfel Prandtauerhof estate at Joching, housed in a Baroque building by architect Jakob Prandtauer, has been producing single-vineyard Riesling from the Liebenberg Ried since the 1980s. The estate balances hospitality (hotel and restaurant) with serious wine production.
