Pojega is the top expression from Guerrieri Rizzardi's Bardolino range, bottled under the Bardolino Superiore DOCG. Oak ageing adds structure and complexity to the base Classico profile. Named for the Pojega wine museum located on the estate.

What it pairs with

  • Roasted duck with polenta
Medium body and structured acidity complement the richness of duck and cornmeal.
  • Grilled beef tagliata with rocket
Savoury tannins and tart cherry pair naturally with sliced grilled beef.
  • Cotechino con lenticchie (pork sausage with lentils)
Structured, dry Bardolino Superiore matches the hearty north Italian winter dish.

History

The Bardolino Superiore DOCG was established in 2001 as the premium tier of Bardolino, requiring a minimum 12-month ageing. Guerrieri Rizzardi named their DOCG expression Pojega after the Pojega wine museum on the estate, one of Italy's longest-running wine museums open since 1975.

  1. 2001 — Bardolino Superiore elevated to DOCG; Guerrieri Rizzardi releases Pojega as the DOCG flagship.
