What it pairs with
-
Lobster with drawn butter
The wine's racy acidity cuts through rich butter; mineral lift complements the lobster's sweetness. -
Scallops with citrus
Blood-orange and lime in the wine resonate with citrus-dressed scallops. -
Thai sea-bass with lemongrass
The wine's citrus and gentle petrol note stand up to aromatic Asian preparations.
History
Steinertal is a steep Ried on primary gneiss in the Loiben cluster, shared with Alzinger among others. F.X. Pichler's version captures the most mineral, linear face of the terroir, emphasising tension over richness.
- 1990 — First vintage of the Steinertal Riesling Smaragd as a standalone cuvée
