History

Fuentes de San Lázaro sits on the Camino de Santiago as it reaches Villafranca del Bierzo, at 600 metres on loamy soil with clay whose drainage favours natural vine health. It faces south, receives light from early morning to sunset, and is sheltered from southerly winds by the Cotelo hill, giving a microclimate protected from frost and storms. The estate vinifies it separately every year and bottles the best vintages in limited quantities.
