In the glass
Aroma: black plum, violet, garrigue, graphite
Palate: blackberry, iron, savoury herb, cocoa nib
Syrah-led red from Leoube's coastal vineyards in the AOC Cotes de Provence La Londe sub-appellation. Garrigue and graphite-driven with cocoa-nib depth from organic-farmed Syrah.
What it pairs with
-
Grilled lamb chops with garlic
Leoube's garrigue and herb register matches herb-scented lamb; tannins handle the char. -
Beef stew with olives
Provencal slow-braised beef finds a peer in the wine's iron and savoury depth. -
Wild mushroom risotto
Earthy mushroom and cocoa-nib wine align on the forest-floor register; body handles cream sauces. -
Aged Beaufort
Alpine cow's-milk cheese with nutty depth meets the wine's structure and dark-fruit register.
History
Leoube's red has been bottled since 2000 under the AOC Cotes de Provence La Londe sub-appellation, recognising the distinct coastal terroir between Bormes-les-Mimosas and Hyeres. The cuvee benefits from organic certification (2008) and is one of the more critically respected reds in the Var coast.
