Palate: elegant soft tannin, dry balance
Intense garnet with orange reflections, an intense and elegant nose of cherry and plum in spirit with ethereal notes and a spiced finish of chocolate, cinnamon and tobacco, then a balanced, dry palate with elegant, soft tannins that the estate says never feels excessive despite the alcohol.
The Riserva comes from Monte Tenda, Monte Crosetta and Rasso, hilltop sites in Fumane and San Pietro in Cariano with stony soils. Grapes are picked at the end of September or start of October, dried in the fruttaio, and pressed in early January before fermenting in truncated-cone vessels at fourteen degrees with daily punch-downs.
The estate reports an intense garnet colour with orange reflections, an intense and elegant nose of cherry and plum in spirit with ethereal notes and a spiced finish of chocolate, cinnamon and tobacco, and a balanced, dry palate with elegant, soft tannins from the wood ageing. It notes the wine is never excessive despite an important alcohol content.
The estate publishes 17 percent alcohol, with total acidity of 5.95 grams per litre and 1.70 grams per litre of residual sugar, so it is fully dry.
From Monte Tenda, Monte Crosetta and Rasso, hilltop sites in the comuni of Fumane and San Pietro in Cariano with soils rich in stone that the estate says suit great red wines.
