What it pairs with

  • Roast beef
The estate lists roasts and red meats for this Riserva.
  • Bitter chocolate
Le Ragose names chocolate, which meets the wine's own bitter edge.
  • Aged and fresh cheeses
The producer suggests both, and the velvet texture works with each.

History

The Marta Galli Amarone comes from an extreme selection of only the loosest bunches, which dry more evenly, and is separated from the estate's traditional Amarone by seven to eight years in French oak tonneaux rather than large Slavonian casks.

Intense and extraordinarily powerful, still rich in tannins, with notes of black cherry. The estate calls the palate warm, strong, full and velvety with an agreeably bitter flavour, elegant and well balanced.

Seven to eight years in new, first-passage and second-passage French oak tonneaux of varying toast from Allier, Troncais and Vosges.
