What it pairs with

  • Roasted pike with herb stuffing
Freshwater fish with herbs is a classic match for a complex, spiced Wachau Riesling.
  • Crayfish tail salad
Mineral tension and stone fruit notes complement crustacean sweetness.
  • Soft blue cheese
Mineral acidity and stone fruit can bridge the gap with mild blue cheese.

History

Achleiten is a widely farmed Wachau grand-cru site, shared by multiple producers. Prager's version consistently emphasises the site's exotic-spice quality from its unusual amphibolite mineral content, differentiating it from the more slate-dominated Rieslings of the Loiben estates.

  1. 1975 — First Prager Achleiten Riesling Smaragd as a single-Ried bottling
  2. 1997 — Prager Achleiten Riesling Smaragd enters the Wachau export market through specialist Austrian wine importers
