What it pairs with

  • Pike-perch with herb sauce
Classic Wachau freshwater fish with mineral Riesling.
  • Prawn bisque
Mineral acidity and stone fruit complement rich prawn soup.
  • Creamy goat's cheese
Citrus and mineral notes balance the tanginess of goat's cheese.

History

The Eder Smaragd Riesling is the estate's premium cuvée, produced from older Mautern parcels in good vintages. The slightly warmer south-bank position gives a rounder profile compared to steep north-bank Loiben Rieslings.

  1. 1972 — First Eder Wachau Riesling Smaragd from the estate's Mautern parcels
