Critic scores

No critic score is published for this bottle that we can cite with a reviewer, a vintage and a review year, so none is shown. The rating in the header is our own.

What it pairs with

  • Roast partridge
A fine-boned, sandy-soil red suits lean game rather than a heavy braise.
  • Cured cecina
Sandy-soil finesse works with air-dried beef rather than against it.
  • Mushroom risotto
A fine-boned red sits easily beside forest mushrooms.

History

Castro Ventosa began fermenting and bottling Villegas separately in 2005, though the wine did not reach the market until the 2010 vintage. Its sandy soils are unusual in Valtuille, where clay dominates, and it is picked immediately after La Cova de la Raposa.
