Fondo Filara is the premium Nicosia Etna Rosso from organically farmed Nerello Mascalese on the south-east slope: approachable and mineral, reflecting the Trecastagni terroir.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled pork chops with Sicilian herbs
The wine's herb complexity and medium body pair well with herb-seasoned pork.
  • Pasta alla norma
Classic north Sicilian pairing: cherry freshness complements aubergine and tomato.
  • Grilled chicken with rosemary and lemon
Medium body and herb notes naturally complement herb-roasted poultry.

History

Tenute Nicosia's Fondo Filara (meaning 'bottom of the vineyard row') is the premium expression from the estate's organically farmed south-east slope Trecastagni vineyards. The wine is part of the Nicosia Etna range that helped establish the Trecastagni area as an accessible wine-tourism destination on the south-east slope.
