Planeta's Etna Nerello Mascalese from the Sciaranuova estate in Solicchiata: the Planeta house style - expressive and accessible - applied to the volcanic north slope.

What it pairs with

  • Pasta al ragu di maiale siciliano
The wine's herb freshness and cherry fruit complement Sicilian pork ragu.
  • Grilled beef spiedini
Medium body and mineral freshness pair well with grilled beef skewers.
  • Parmigiana di melanzane
Tart cherry acidity and medium body bridge the rich aubergine and tomato.

History

Planeta established its Etna estate at Sciaranuova in Solicchiata in 2008, adding Nerello Mascalese cultivation to the multi-estate Planeta empire. The Sciaranuova winery is architecturally distinctive, built partially underground to maintain cellar conditions on the volcanic slope.
