Planeta's Noto DOC Nero d'Avola from the Buonivini contrada captures the south-east of Sicily at its most sun-soaked: rich carob and dark cherry with the warm mineral finish typical of the Noto appellation's limestone soils.

What it pairs with

  • Slow-braised pork with black olives
Carob-warm Nero d'Avola is the ideal companion for rich pork braised with Sicilian olives.
  • Pasta con salsiccia e broccoli
Dark fruit and medium tannin hold up to the richness of sausage and brassica pasta.
  • Aged Ragusano
The wine's warm mineral depth pairs well with the sharp crystalline character of aged Ragusano DOP.

History

Planeta established the Buonivini estate near Noto in 2003 to explore what is considered the heartland of Nero d'Avola cultivation. The estate sits in the Contrada Buonivini within the Noto DOC, historically associated with the oldest and most valued Nero d'Avola vines.
