Aroma: yellow citrus, wet red slate, saline herbs, white smoke

Palate: taut mid-palate, iron-grip salinity, spicy stone, long iron finish

A Demeter-certified Pettenthal that doubles down on Roter Hang red-slate character: taut, iron-grip salinity and a long spicy finish.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled mackerel
Saline herbs and iron grip suit oily char-grilled fish.
  • Wiener Schnitzel with lingonberries
Racy acidity and citrus cut the breaded veal; spicy stone matches the berry compote.
  • Aged Comte
Mineral spine and aged-cheese savouriness play together.

  1. 2014: Estate Demeter certification completed
  2. 2016: Schaetzel joins VDP; Pettenthal officially bottled as Grosses Gewaechs
