Rothenberg is the Nackenheim flank of the Roter Hang red-slate cliff; Gunderloch has farmed Rothenberg for over a century, and the GG bottling was codified by VDP in 2002 as the family's red-slate flagship.
Smoky red-slate mineral, concentrated yellow stone fruit and saline finish. Full-bodied with racy acidity and a long finish.
Drink 5 to 25 years from vintage. Young bottles benefit from 60 minutes of decanting; cellar bottles show tertiary smoke.
